Ten ways to build trust on your team, by Forbes

Bad culture leads to performance, turnover, employee, and team issues

  • Create environments where people can freely and appropriately express their opinions

  • No public shaming or blaming

  • Publicly emphasize accomplishments

  • Allow employees to give superiors feedback

I personally agree with this article. It presents a real-life problem that many businesses and institutions have. Liz Ryan does a great job of providing solutions on how to build trust to confront toxic work environments and mistrust. She ranges from open communication, positive feedback, humanize workers, to constructive criticism and self-reflection as ways to build trust in the workplace. Therefore, it covered a great range of issues that can happen in the workplace. One thing I would add is specific examples and/or ways people can provide feedback and voice their opinions to leaders and managers in the workplace.  One example could be that if there’s a culture in a place where leaders and managers embrace feedback, allow employees to privately ask them if they have a moment to discuss their performance on a task or project.
